min: an alternative win98 shell - v0.3.0
A downloadable shell
min is a tiny, minimalist, retro-flavored shell replacement for Windows 98's Explorer.exe. Meant to stay out of the way and give you more options than originally offered. I made this for my own use, but you may find it useful, too. Timed power options, coding tools like RNG stream, string sequencer & trimmer, TCP & serial connectors, sticky notes, and more to come. Feel free to let me know about any bugs you may find! Check out the included README.txt before use, for more details and installation instructions (simple!).
CHANGELOG:
- added the address book, which saves to modern vcard files (.vcf). more fields to come
- added auto-saving 'day notes' field to the mini calendar, a precursor to a future version's "events/reminders/to-do"
- big run dialog updates: made the run box's launch mechanism way more reliable and robust, and added a doskey-like feature so you can press up to re-insert previous entries
- added an alternate paper color in checklist (double-click the left margin)
- added vbscript execution to the coding menu (run once, or at timed intervals)
- the windows shortcuts in the settings menu should work much better now
